The subject is something that will draw the attention of the viewer due to its grandeur and the sheer scale of it which is not entirely lost in this photo. I really like the play between light and shadow near the base of the cathedral.
This photo could be even better if it were taken in black and white since in terms of colours, I personally feel, it does not have much to offer. In black and white, it would add a dark feel to it. If the intent of the photographer is not for the Gothic feel, the photo can be taken from a different angle. The angle at which the photograph has been taken makes the photo rather plain looking.
This photo is nice, but holds the promise of something much better.
